2016 Veyder-Malberg Liebedich Gruner Veltliner

Peter farms vineyards in Bruck, Schon, Buschenberg, Hochrain, Loibenberg and Kreutles. They’re all top sites, but he farms in such tiny parcels that he can’t make single wines out of them. Thus, the Liebedich becomes his “classic” Gruner Veltliner, using that word in the same sense that a Barolo producer would. The wine is what Peter calls a “drinking animating” wine — fresh, mineral and brilliant at 11.7% alcohol. Delicious now, but better with at least three years in the cellar.
